The University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) has empowered more than 45 campus public information officers to search-engine optimize and distribute their news directly to the public through an online newsroom that looks more like a news portal than a press release archive.

“Search engines only deliver information that’s been published to the web,” said Eric Schwartzman, founder and chairman of iPressroom. “By making information about their ground-breaking research, health sciences discoveries and other campus-related news available through their online newsroom, UCLA is leveraging the power of search engines to deliver breaking news and information directly to the public.”

With iPressroom, campus public information officers can login, upload, search engine optimize (SEO) and submit their news and press releases to UCLA’s Office of Media Relations for approval and online publication to the UCLA Newsroom.

“We’re driving significant traffic to the UCLA website with news and press releases,” said Chris Bechtel, vice president, products and services, iPressroom. “Since we launched their iPressroom-powered online newsroom, more than half a million visitors have come to ucla.edu through the newsroom, and the majority of that traffic came directly from search engines.
